Persistent tachypnea of infancy is associated with neuroendocrine cell hyperplasia.
We sought to determine the clinical course and histologic findings in lung biopsies from a group of children who presented with signs and symptoms of interstitial lung disease (ILD) without identified etiology. Patients were identified from the pathology files at the Texas Children's Hospital who presented below age 2 years with persistent tachypnea, hypoxia, retractions, or respiratory crackle...

Imprints or touch preparations were prepared from lymph nodes in 57 cases. Comparison with histological sections showed a high degree of accuracy (94.7%) in diagnosis. They are simple to prepare and no special equipment is needed. They can be a useful adjunct to histologic sections after surgery (JPMA 30:266, 1980).
متن کاملA mutation in TTF1/NKX2.1 is associated with familial neuroendocrine cell hyperplasia of infancy.
BACKGROUND Neuroendocrine cell hyperplasia of infancy (NEHI) is a childhood diffuse lung disease of unknown etiology. We investigated the mechanism for lung disease in a subject whose clinical, imaging, and lung biopsy specimen findings were consistent with NEHI; the subject's extended family and eight other unrelated patients with NEHI were also investigated. METHODS The proband's lung biops...

BACKGROUND Neuroendocrine cell hyperplasia of infancy (NEHI) is a recently described children's interstitial lung disease (chILD) disorder of unknown etiology. It manifests clinically with tachypnea, retractions, hypoxemia, and crackles. The characteristic radiographic appearance consists of pulmonary hyperexpansion and ground-glass densities on high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT). Lung ...
متن کاملUrine cytology by a filter imprint method.
The introduction of programmes to detect bladder cancer in people exposed to carcinogens and the increased interest in the value of urinary cytology as a diagnostic procedure have resulted in the need for a satisfactory method of preparing specimens. Ideally, the method must be simple to perform and reproducible, and result in a high degree of cellular clarity and minimal cellular distortion. V...
